I read on other websites two recent stories on medicinal cannabis, from the ‘frontlines’ (of the Drug War).. one is positive, the other is NOT !
1) The NSW state Govt. (Australia) is considering passing laws to allow medicinal cannabis to be available to terminally ill patients & others who may benefit from it. Long overdue..
2) A 9 year-old girl in NY (USA) has recently died from severe Epilepsy (Dravet Syndrome). The real sad part of the story, is that NY state has recently passed laws to allow medicinal use of cannabis, which is proven to relieve the symptoms of this illness, BUT it was enacted too late to help save this child !
Anyone reading the UN convention on ‘Narcotic drugs’ 1961 could not miss the opening statement that gives exemption to medicinal use. BUT this is ‘overlooked’ by many jurisdictions, including in Aotearoa/NZ.. SHAME on the ‘power-brokers’ who continue to deny access to a drug that could bring obvious benefit/relief to many !!
