Harm survey

I heard on the radio, that a survey of harm in hospital (A&E) depts. has been released, with data collected in Australia & Aotearoa/NZ. The main cause of the harm is alcohol, specifically excessively intoxicated people. The issues raised :

1) over 90% of hospital staff had been either verbally abused or even physically assaulted by drunks, in the A&E

2) even other hospital patients, reported being abused or assaulted by intoxicated people

3) over 20% of kiwis are consuming alcohol at levels that is harmful to both themselves & others

Whilst it is commonly known that alcohol & tobacco (legal drugs) cause most harm to society (including deaths), it is cannabis that is the target of demonisation & prohibition (go figure)
