I read that USA Govt. has given the nod to Native American people on their reserves & territories to grow & use cannabis.
I understand that under UN conventions there is a provision for ‘traditional uses’.. BUT ironically; cannabis is not a traditional native American plant !
I’m hoping the USA continues to challenge the outdated conventions (which they were responsible for pushing in 1961) & that it could soon lead to wholesale/widespread global change (including in Aotearoa/NZ). There have been calls here, to allow Rastafarians (on Maori tribal lands) to do so under similar legislative loopholes.. but this Govt. have a total zero-tolerance attitude & won’t even allow medicinal uses (clearly exempt under UN convention)
