Jamaica law reform

I read.. that on the anniversary of Sir Bob’s 70th birthday (RIP) that Jamaica, has passed legislation to ‘decriminalise’ up to 2 ounces (56 grams) of ‘Ganja’ for personal use !

The only issue being mentioned, that ‘decriminalisation’ may have removed the ‘Spector’ of a criminal conviction, but any one caught with less than 2 ounces, can still get an ‘on-the-spot’ FINE.. this is why I&I do not really support any notion of ‘decriminalisation’ BUT rather ‘Legal REGULATION’ (available to Adults only, under strict rules, but no fines or other ‘punishment’) I would even be happy with personal possession being as low as 10-15 grams (about 1/2 ounce). (btw; Coffeeshops in Holland can sell: 5 gram bags)

  1. Given the tremendous improvements that this drug offers those suffering from damaging convulsions – and possibly many other conditions, it’s certainly time for decriminalisation. It seems hypocritical to be supporting the liberal advertising of alcohol – which frequently fuels violence – leading to injury and death, while cannabis, with so much potential for good,is legislated against.

Thx for you comment Jill. Its always good to read/hear intelligent thoughts on cannabis.. as opposed to misinformation & ‘reefer madness’ propaganda.
