Zero tolerance Bali

I just saw an update on a kiwi woman, arrested in Bali a few months ago, with about 0.4grams of Meth/P. She has recently been transferred to ‘Hotel K’ (Kerobokan jail) awaiting trial. The woman was arrested at Denpasar airport, on a flight from Australia (where she was living at the time).

The report said she will not be facing the death penalty, for such a small amount.. BUT potentially could get, up to 15 years in jail, for importation of the drug. They said the woman’s lawyer is calling for less than 1 year & rehab. This just confirms the draconian, ridiculous ‘zero tolerance’ approach that some countries still take to all ‘ILLEGAL DRUGS’.

Even here in Aotearoa/NZ there is still effective zero-tolerance; the smallest quantities are still usually arrestable & criminal convictions, often result !
