I saw on the news that a kiwi woman, who was arrested in Bali with 0.4GRAM of ‘Meth’, has recently faced court. They said as it was less than 5 grams, she is not subject to the death penalty.. but could face up to 14 years in prison.
She arrived at Bali’s Denpasar airport (from Australia) with the drugs in her possession. She was apparently charged with ‘importation of an illegal narcotic drug’. In most reasonable western countries, she would likely have got a fine or a bit of community work.. or perhaps a referral to drug treatment, depending on the circumstances. BUT in Indonesia they see it as a major criminal offence.. talk about TOTAL OVERKILL !!
