frontlines despatch

I see in the news, that a ‘Basketball superstar’ (USA) has taken another trip to North Korea. Apparently the DPRK leader is a big fan. BUT I also see that the trip is being sponsored by ‘PotCoin’ a digital currency for the increasing grey-market of the cannabis industry.

This caught my attention, not because the star maybe a weed user, but because DPRK was not a signatory to the 1961 UN convention on narcotic drugs. Therefore this country is not/never has been; bound by the conventions.. ie cannabis prohibition likely does not exist in North Korea ?

Maybe an entrepreneur or two could exploit this ??

  1. Kieran says:

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (aka North Korea) has ratified the United Nations Convention Against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, and the Convention on Psychotropic Substances (the three main international conventions of the drug war) The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea are permanent UN Member States. They use the full official title of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, rather than the informal North Korea. In short, cannabis is very much illegal in North Korea. Hope that clears that up!
