more despatches.. frontlines

I read a couple more items from the frontlines of the Drug War:

1) a man in a dressing gown was busted (in Sth Island NZ) for a ‘pocket full of pot’ (19 grams), some more stashed in a breakfast cereal box, 14 thriving plants & 16 seedlings. The court heard that the man had a previous conviction (2 plants) from about 30 years ago. He was sentenced to 80 hours community work.

2) following up from previous post: the Canadian Senate has given final passage to the federal Govt. bill to legalise recreational cannabis.. Canadians will have to wait a few months, before they can legally buy it. P.M. Trudeau said he had wanted it legal by July 1, but it will still take some time to get Royal assent (final approval). This makes Canada, only the second country to legalise the drug, after Uruguay. The bill passed their senate 52-29 votes (64% approval) 🙂

* we can all see which country is really ‘dragging the chain’ on this issue !
